Happy Earth Day everyone!
Earth Day has always been one of my favorite smaller holidays. As someone who has grown up spending lots of time in the outdoors and in the U.S. national parks, nature is something that has had a big impact on me. Being in places that I feel are bigger than myself simultaneously inspire me and give me peace. Living in Texas, I don’t have as much access to the outdoors as I used to. But it makes me appreciate my time spent enjoying our earth even more!
Whether you are “outdoorsy” or not, I think that it’s important to acknowledge Earth Day and what it means. We often forget the beauty that is around us, especially if we reside in a big city. I see Earth Day as a perfect opportunity to remember the beauty of our planet and all it gives us in the midst of our busy lives. It can also remind us how important protecting and caring for our environment is. There are little things we can be doing every day to care for our planet.
Even if you feel like you don’t have the time or resources to care for our planet, there are still many ways you can help. I like to always make sure I unplug things and turn off lights when I’m not using them. Recycling and reusing is also a huge help, and super easy! Also, regardless of whether you live in the countryside or the city, there are many organizations you can partner with that involve planting trees, picking up trash, and many other environmentally-friendly activities!
